RingCentral AI Receptionist: pricing and alternatives
In short
RingCentral AI Receptionist (AIR) costs $49 per month standalone, or $39 plus $30 for the RingEX Core plan, with 100 minutes included and $0.50 per extra minute billed in 30-second increments. It suits RingEX users in the US and Canada. In the UK, Australia and the EU, it is sold only as an add-on.
RingCentral AI Receptionist, sold as AIR, is the AI call-answering product of one of the largest cloud phone companies. It is a serious option, especially if you already use RingEX. This review covers what it does, what it costs in 2026 and who it fits, then lists 5 alternatives with their published prices. VocalReception, which publishes this page, is one of them, so read the comparison with that in mind. Every price was checked on the vendor’s own page on 5 November 2026. RingCentral is a trademark of its owner. This page is an independent review.
What is RingCentral AI Receptionist?
RingCentral AI Receptionist is an AI voice agent that answers your business calls 24/7, routes them and captures caller details. It works inside RingCentral’s phone system or, in the US and Canada, in front of any other phone system via call forwarding or SIP.
According to RingCentral’s own pages, it offers:
- Routing by name, department, location, keyword or conversation context, to users, extensions, queues or external numbers, with a call summary passed on.
- Appointment booking through Google and Outlook calendar sync, with confirmation texts.
- Lead capture with custom intake questions.
- Languages: English (US, UK, Australia), French (Canadian and European), Spanish, Latin American Spanish, Italian, German and Portuguese, with automatic switching.
- Setup from your website or Google Business Profile, plus uploaded documents.
- CRM links with Salesforce, HubSpot and Zoho. Note that the product page marks some CRM, scheduling and ecommerce sync claims as “coming soon”.
- Compliance: the pricing page lists HIPAA and SOC 2.

Two billing details change the real bill:
- 30-second increments, rounded up. A 70-second call is billed as 90 seconds. On many short calls, that adds up.
- Overage rate. $0.50 per minute is the highest per-minute overage among the vendors in our ai receptionist pricing guide. At 300 minutes a month, AIR standalone costs $49 + 200 × $0.50 = $149.
The pricing page also lists an AI SMS agent that “may carry additional charges”.
Who is RingCentral AI Receptionist a good fit for?
It fits best if you already run your phones on RingEX in the US or Canada. Numbers, extensions, contacts, business hours and routing sync automatically, and you manage everything in one admin portal.
It is a weaker fit in 3 cases:
- High minute volume. At 1,000 minutes, the standalone bill is $499. Flat or per-call plans cost far less at that volume.
- Outside the US and Canada. RingCentral’s product page says AIR is sold only as an add-on in the UK, Australia and the EU. Without RingEX, you cannot buy it there.
- Languages outside its list. Dutch, for example, was not listed. If your callers speak a language that is missing, test before you commit.
What should you check before buying RingCentral AI Receptionist?
Four points on RingCentral’s own pages need a written answer from sales before you sign:
- Trial terms. The pricing page shows “Try free” but no length or limit, and the product page does not mention a trial.
- Integrations marked “coming soon”. Some CRM, scheduling and ecommerce sync claims carry that footnote, and Calendly appears as both available and coming soon. Ask which integrations are live for your plan today.
- Minute bundles. Extra bundles exist, but their prices are not published. Ask for them if you expect more than 100 minutes.
- Your real call length. With 30-second rounding, 100 two-minute-and-five-second calls are billed as 250 minutes, not 208.
If your gap is mainly evenings and weekends, compare AIR with a dedicated after hours answering service setup, and put a value on each lost call with the guide to the cost of missed calls.

IONOS AI Receptionist. The Unlimited plan at $99 has no overage, so the bill never moves. Every plan starts with a free first month, billing is month to month, and calendar scheduling is included from Flex Pro. The best choice if you want a flat bill.
Upfirst. The lowest paid entry at $24.95 for 30 calls. Calls under 15 seconds, spam and robocalls are not billed. The trial runs 14 days or 100 calls, with no card. Good for low volume and long calls.
Goodcall. It bills per unique customer, “one phone number, once a month”, and does not meter minutes or calls. It suits businesses whose clients call several times a month. Instead of a trial, you can build and test a demo agent before you connect a number.
Smith.ai AI Receptionist. The free plan (25 calls, then $3.00 per call) is a low-risk way to test, and Smith.ai also sells human receptionists if you want people later. Per-call overage stays high.
VocalReception. Built in Europe, with 7 languages including Dutch. The managed service is available now, with go-live in 7 days; self-serve setup is coming soon, with a waitlist for self-serve setup.

How do you decide between RingCentral and an alternative?
Answer 4 questions, in this order:
- Are you on RingEX? If yes, AIR’s integration is a real advantage. Price it against your current minutes first.
- How many minutes do you handle? Below 100 minutes a month, AIR’s $49 is competitive. Above 300, per-call and flat plans usually win.
- Where are your callers, and which languages do they speak? Check availability in your country and test each language.
- What happens to the calls the AI cannot solve? Compare transfer rules, not just price. Our phone answering checklist lists what to test.
How VocalReception handles this
VocalReception is an AI voice receptionist built in Europe for small businesses, with France and Belgium as first markets. It answers in 7 languages (French, English, Dutch, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, German), detected from the caller’s first words, says it is an AI in the greeting, emails a structured lead sheet after every call and transfers to a person on your rules. The plan costs €79 per month excluding VAT and includes 400 minutes. Additional usage costs €0.25 per started minute, subject to a monthly spending cap you set. SMS costs €0.10 each, with none included. Done-for-you setup costs €199 once, credited on invoice 7 after 6 paid months. The first month is paid, with a 30-day money-back guarantee on its €79 plan fee; setup is excluded. There is no commitment. The team sets up and tests your line to go live in 7 days. Self-serve setup is coming soon, with a waitlist. Each month, an agent reviews transcripts and sends recurring unanswered questions for you to answer and update the FAQ. No audio is kept. Text transcripts are kept in the EU for about one month to produce the monthly unanswered-questions report, then deleted.
